Destination: Hong Kong, part 1 - marinas //

5sails never stops and keeps on exploring far-off shores. This time 5sails' destination is Hong Kong.

It is often overlooked that Hong Kong is much more than just a huge megalopolis. Approximately 40% of its territory is a national park, that combines hilly topography, rocky coastline, hidden beaches, numerous small islands as well as rich maritime history, meaning there is much to do and see by boat. Much of HK can actually be only approached from sea.

Sailing for Dummies: Communicate with Me __.__

Signal flags are used to communicate messages, at times because radio silence is required.

The International Code of Signals (ICS) is an international system of signals and codes for use by vessels to communicate important messages regarding safety of navigation and related matters. Signals can be sent by flaghoist, signal lamp ("blinker"), flag semaphore, radiotelegraphy, and radiotelephony.

Sailing for dummies: introduction 2

There is nothing — absolutely nothing — half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats.
—Water Rat to Mole, Kenneth Grahame, The Wind in the Willows

Bringing Omega 28 from Helsinki to Tallinn, 4 April 2013

It was 4th of April 2013. The navigating season has not started yet. The spring was late and it was seriously cold still. But nothing stopped the real sea-wolves from bringing this Omega 28 from Helsinki to Tallinn. It was the first sailing boat to arrive to Old City marina in Tallinn that spring.

Tallinn bay cruise: 13 July 2013

Sailboat cruise is a fun alternative way to celebrate a special day: birthday, anniversary, bachelor party, casual event for business partners or off the beaten track trip for tourists. Admire Tallinn view, relax, feel the wind in your hair and splash into the blue waters of Baltic sea.

This Tallinn bay cruise started at the Old City Marina, right in the heart of Tallinn. During the sailing it was all just party-party-party for girls. We stopped in front of Pirita beach, where the girls could swim and sunbathe. On our way back it was a time for an afternoon nap for some, while others had a coffee break.

Lohusalu 2 day trip, 7 Sept 2013

Lohusalu marina welcomed its guests once again. The beginning of September 2013 was still very warm and the sea breeze was very gentle. We had an amazing time sailing the Omega 28 yacht from Tallinn to Lohusalu and back the next day.

Lohusalu marina offers all modern facilities. Guests can also enjoy BBQ grounds and sauna.
